Welcome to the beginning of another school year here at Interagency-UDYC!

First, I hope you all had a great summer, and are beginning to think about the upcoming school year and what you want to accomplish. I would like to welcome Daniel Gotkin to the school as our new CEA. Many of you met Daniel at the end of last school year, when he went rafting and attended many of our year-end functions.

Second, Interagency has a new assistant principal this year – Dr. Barbara Casey, formerly of Garfield High School. She will be based at the Interagency site at Wilson-Pacific, but expect to see her around our school site throughout the year.

Next, you should know that UDYC installed a new phone system, and our extension has changed. To contact the school, please call 206-526-2992 extension 30.

School will begin on Wednesday, September 3^rd at 9:00 am with a welcome breakfast sponsored by the UDYC staff. During this first week, we will be doing assessments (yes, that means STAR math and reading!) as well as some advisory activities and academic planning. For the first week only, school hours will be from 9:00 am until 12 noon.

Beginning Monday, September 8^th, school hours will be 9:00 am to 2:00 pm daily, except Wednesdays when school ends at 3:00 pm in order to continue our Sanctuary Art Center program. We will also start providing school breakfast and lunch beginning on the 8^th.

We will schedule meetings with returning students and their parents/guardians/concerned adults sometime during the month of September. At this meeting, we will fill out necessary forms, review academic plans for the upcoming year, and discuss successes and challenges as a team. Most of these meetings will be in the afternoon, but we will have some times available before school as well. Expect Daniel or Kevin to call in the next few weeks to arrange the meeting.
